Globally many people are experiencing spinal cord injury almost every year. Spinal cord injury
is one of the major physically disabling medical conditions that can cause multiple impairments
in participation with community reintegration. It is found that the spinal cord injury occurs
mostly among people who are in between 16 to 40 years of age. Unemployment is a prevalent
and serious problem for persons with SCI. Several factors are related to the employment of the
persons with SCI. These include education, type of employment, disability severity, age, time
since injury, sex, marital status, social support, vocational counseling and medical problem
related to SCI, employer role, environment, professional interests etc.
Aim of the study
The aim of the study is to explore the challenges experienced by the persons with tetraplegia in
their employment.
Method
The study is conducted in different communities among tetraplegia. Grounded theory is used to
know about the experiences of the persons with tetraplega about challenges related to their
employment in the community.
Data analysis
Grounded Theory is used in this study for data analysis. It is done according to coding and
categorization to make themes. The analysis of data begins with transcriptions of the entire
interviews from voice recorder and written documents. |
