For data collection 6 mothers were purposively selected and an in-depth interview was conducted with a semi-structured open-ended questionnaire. Then the data was analyzed using qualitative content analysis.
dc.description.abstract Cerebral palsy is a common condition in Bangladesh which causes childhood disability. In most cases the mother is the primary caregiver for her child with cerebral palsy. Mothers face many problems when caring her child and cope as best as they can. Aim of the study: To identify the coping strategy of mothers of children with cerebral palsy with the problems in the relationships and social life Objectives of the study: The objectives of the study are to find out the problems of mothers in their relationships with other persons and in their social life and how they cope with those problems. Methodology: Qualitative methodology was used to conduct this study. Participants for this study were the mother of children with cerebral palsy who are taking treatment in CRP for their child. For data collection 6 mothers were purposively selected and an in-depth interview was conducted with a semi-structured open-ended questionnaire. Then the data was analyzed using qualitative content analysis. Result: The mothers interviewed reported problems with their relationship with their in-laws and financial difficulties due to the extra cost associated with having a child with CP. They also face problems in their social life due to negative talking within society about their child. To cope with these problems the mothers report to Allah for support and to accept their fate. They also utilize alternative technique such as expressing feelings, trying to solve problems, seeking cure and staying away from the person who makes the problems. en_US
