dc.description.abstract Background: Family support is essential in shaping the social integration and emotional well-being of children with cerebral palsy (CP). Caregivers play a central role in helping their children participate in daily and social activities while navigating emotional, physical, and societal challenges. Understanding caregivers perspectives provides valuable insight into how family support systems influence inclusion and help overcome barriers to participation. Aim: This study explored caregivers perspectives on how family support influences the social integration of children with cerebral palsy. Methods: A qualitative phenomenological approach was applied to capture caregivers lived experiences. Twelve primary caregivers of children with cerebral palsy (CP) were purposively selected. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews using a self-developed interview guide. Additional sources of data included field notes and a reflective journal. The interviews typically lasted 30 to 45 minutes. Braun and Clarke’s six-step thematic analysis was used to analyse the data. Results: Six themes emerged: (I) perception of the child’s condition, (II) caregiving journey, (III) family as the pillar of support, (IV) Socioeconomic and Environmental Barriers, (V) pathways to social integration, and (VI) aspirations and future hopes. The findings demonstrate that strong family unity, emotional reassurance, and shared caregiving responsibilities significantly influenced children’s confidence and participation in school, family, and community activities. Family acceptance within the home enabled caregivers to promote inclusion and manage social stigma, while financial hardship and negative community attitudes remained major challenges in the process of social integration. Conclusion: Family support significantly enhances the social integration and emotional growth of children with cerebral palsy. Strengthening community awareness, inclusive education, and institutional support can promote equal participation and improve quality of life for children with CP.
