| dc.description.abstract | This study was conducted to find out the common voice problems among voice users in Dhaka city. Data was collected from 80 participants from different sectors, institutions and contexts of Dhaka city. This study was conducted by using cross sectional survey method. Face to face interview with a questionnaire developed form Miller et. al (1995), Roy et. al (2004) and Ohlsson et. al (2012) study on prevalence of voice disorder was used as questionnaire to collect data from the participants. Data was analyzed by descriptive statistical analysis. Statistical Package for Social Science-22 (SPSS) and Microsoft Excel 2007 was used for data analysis. The professional voice users are prone to have voice problems. Professional voice users are persons earning his living or complete his degree by using his voice or any other person whose life could be affected with the loss of voice quality and endurance. Sometimes they face unwanted vocal conditions. But there are limited study regarding voice disorder, even there are some, these are on separated sectors, like only on teaching, singing, call center etc., but this one compiles all of them and makes a broad area of further research. This is helpful for making an overall treatment protocol. Frequently suffered voice problems were tired voice, weak voice effortful voice, pain in throat etc. Associated problems are slight effect on job performance. The findings of present study suggest that it is need to run vocal training program (short term and long term) among professional voice users. This study would help to establish a collaborative management approach for voice problem. This knowledge would also be helpful for improving the referral system to speech and language therapy services in Bangladesh. Key Words: Voice, Voice Problem, Tool, Tool of Trade | en_US |
