dc.description.abstract The tittle of the study is functional communication among the teenager with Down Syndrome. The purpose of the study is to explore the functional communication skills in different area among the teenager with Down Syndrome. The purpose of the study had divided into two specific objectives. The study was conducted in quantitative research design. The study place was William & Mary Taylor School; Saver, Swid Bangladesh and Ramna Buddhui Protibandhi & Autistic School and Touri Foundation; Dhaka. 50 participants were selected for the study. They were the teenager with Down Syndrome who were selected using a purposive sampling technique according to the inclusion criteria. Investigator used Communication Checklist Adult (CCA) questionnaires to collect data which was designed to determine the functional communication of teenager with Down Syndrome. The interview was conducted in Bangla to make it easier for all participants to understand but also allowed them to respond more freely. Face-to-face interviews had been be used to conduct in this study. The investigator had used descriptive statistical analysis and SPSS as tools to analyze the data. In this study the total participants were 50 where 52% were female and 48% were male. In the difficulties majority level among the participants 42% in twice a day in their language structure, 48% in pragmatic skills and 46% in social engagement at least once a week had difficulties. In strength majority level 40% in twice a day in language structure, 50% who never and 34% in twice a day in social engagement had strength. The investigator had tried to find out different area’s functional communication rate among the teenager with Down Syndrome. This research would be helpful for the Speech and Language therapist to become aware about SLT service in special needs school. en_US
