Abstract:
Purpose: To find out the feature of urinary tract infection among SCI patients at CRP.
Objectives: To explore socio demography, for example age, sex, education, and
religion of UTI affected spinal cord injured patients, to determine the common
associated factors with the development of UTI among SCI patients, to evaluate the
frequency of UTI among SCI patients, to identify the physical sign of development of
UTI. Methodology: A cross-sectional study design was used to conduct the study. About
61 patients were selected through simple purposive sampling technique from inpatient
of Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) unit, of Center for the Rehabilitation of the Paralyzed
(CRP), Savar, Dhaka, Bangladesh. The data were collected by using a questionnaire
and were analyzed by using SPSS software version 25.0.
Results: 60 participants were included as sample. Male (75.0%) are predominantly
higher than female (25.0%). Majority of the participants was Muslim (95.10%) and
very few participants are Hinduism (4.90%), Married person (66.7%) was more
affected then unmarried (31.7%) and Divorced (1.7%).
Conclusion: The results of this study provided more insight into the urinary tract
infection among spinal cord injured patient. More research is needed to evaluate the
Feature and complication of UTI in SCI patients.
