Abstract:
Background: To assess the quality of life among the caregivers of stroke patients.
Objectives: To evaluate the quality of life among the caregivers of stroke patient through
the evaluation of physical functioning (PF), Role Physical (RP), Role Emotional (RE).
Bodily pain (BP), General health (GH), Mental health (MH), Vitality (VT), Social
functioning (SF). Methodology: The study was conducted through Cross-sectional study
design among 104 participants who were selected by convenient sampling technique from
Neurology unite, CRP, Savar, Dhaka. Dhaka by a structured questionnaire with face-to
face interview. SF-36 questionnaire was used to conduct the research and data was
analyzed by SPSS version 25 and Microsoft Excel Work 2016. Results: In this research,
95 (91.3%) participants were female and 9 (8.7%) were male where the mean age was 49.8
years and SD was11.978. Among the participants most of them were married (81.7%) and
housewife (62.5%). Health Related Quality of life of participants was detected by a
questionnaire SF36 and all dimensions carried moderate score. The study also found that
the individual had a poor physical health and mental health status that claimed poor quality
of life among the caregivers. Conclusion: Stroke is a disastrous condition which causes
individual’s dependent on caregivers for their basic needs. The result will help the
physiotherapist to know the QOL among caregivers of stroke survivors in Bangladeshi
content and in future caregiver will be benefited to reduce stress and a significant advice
about maintaining their family role.
