Abstract:
Background: Spinal cord injury is a injury to the spinal cord that can be caused by
traumatic or non- traumatic resulting a wide range of impairment,activity limitations
and participation restrictions. Objectives: To find out mental health status effects of
people with spinal cord injury after received of group therapy. Methodology: The
study design was cross-sectional. A total of 102 samples were selected conveniently
for this study from the centre for the rehabilitation of the paralyzed, spinal cord injury
unit, at savar. Data was collected by using of structured questionnaire and mental
health was assessed by Depression ,Anxiety and stress scale -21. The study was
conducted by using quantitative description analysis through SPSS software 22.0 and
Microsoft Excel 2016.Result: Among the respondents,most of them were male.
Pareplegic patients were greater than tetraplegic patients and the amount were 52.5%
was paraplegic and 47.5% was tetraplegic patients. Most of them have moderate
depression level ,extremely severe anxiety and moderate stress level,which indicates
their mental health status level .Conclussion: A significant portion of SCI patients
were found to be moderate depressed because of including in a group therapy
sessions. But the level of anxiety is extremely severe level among most of the patients
after received group therapy . At the same time stress level was also moderate among
those patients who received group therapy.
