Abstract:
Purpose: The purpose of the study was to determine the factors that are related to
recurrent low back pain. Objectives: The objective of the study was to find out the
factors of recurrent low back pain, association between socio-demographic
information and oswestry low back pain disability index, behavior & lifestyle,
physical factors, occupational factors and to perceive low back pain disability index.
Methodology: A cross-sectional study among 100 participants. The data collection
was collected through using structured questionnaire by face to face interview.
Inclusion criteria was having previous history of low back pain and having
recurrence. A structured questionnaire was used that had socio-demographic
information, behavior and lifestyle, physical factors, occupational factors oswestry
low back pain disability index. The statistical test has been conducted as per the
distribution of data. To test the differences in the categorical variables according to
the ODI results, the χ2 test or Fisher’s exact test was used if the cell number was <5.
Independent associations of occupational variables with the ODI tertiles were
analysed using multinomial logistic regression. The results are presented as ORs with
95% CIs. Statistical significance was defined as p<0.05. Results: Among 100
participants the mean and standard deviation was 39.63± 12.062. Association found
between age, gender, marital status, educational status, residential area, occupation,
previous treatment, tobacco intake and constipation in socio demographic
information. In multinominal logistic regression compared with independent variable
and ODI tertiles shows several key factors significantly associated with RLBP,
including history of physical injury, long-term standing, and lifting heavy loads.
Conclusion: From this study, it could be concluded that many physical and
occupational factors were highly responsible for recurrent low back pain.
