Abstract:
Background: De Quervain's tenosynovitis (DQT) is a common condition affecting the
tendons of the abductor pollicis longus and extensor pollicis brevis which limiting activities
of daily living and quality of life. Occupational therapy is essential for managing symptoms
and improving function, but patient satisfaction with these services remains underexplored.
This study assesses satisfaction across key dimensions to identify strengths and areas for
improvement in therapy services.
Aim: The aim of the study is to measure and analyze the satisfaction level of patients
diagnosed with De Quervain's tenosynovitis (DQT) after receiving OT hand therapy from
a selected rehabilitation Centre.
Method: This study was conducted through a cross-sectional approach to achieve the study
aim and objectives. convenient sampling was used to collect data from 51 participants who
was diagnosed and took occupational therapy service from a selected rehabilitation Centre.
Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire (PSQ-18) was used with face-to-face interview to
conduct this study. Data was analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Science
(SPSS) version 25.
Result: After analyzing data it was found that the majority of patients with De Quervain’s
Tenosynovitis (DQT) were dissatisfied with the occupational therapy services they
received, with 76.5% expressing dissatisfaction and only 23.5% reporting satisfaction.
While the interpersonal manner domain achieved the highest satisfaction rate (94.1%),
significant dissatisfaction was observed in technical quality (31.4%), communication
(29.4%), and financial aspects (19.6%). Accessibility and time spent with therapists were
relatively well-rated but did not offset the overall dissatisfaction. These findings highlight
critical areas for service improvement to enhance patient satisfaction and outcomes.
Conclusion: The results would shed lights on the present condition of patients with DQT
after taking OT Hand Therapy services which could be used to influence the outlook of the
policymakers of our country. Critical areas such as technical quality, communication, and
financial aspects require targeted improvements to enhance patient satisfaction and overall
therapy effectiveness. These findings underscore the need for patient-centered strategies to
optimize therapy outcomes.
