Several studies indicate that multiple scerosis might be a rare result of delayed exposure to a common infectious agemt, but some authors have suggested a "geograophical predisposing factor" that could be associated with the diet in industrialised countries. We investigated the association between multiple scle4rosis and breast feeding. Our data indicated that patients with multerple sclerosis were less likely that controls to have been breast fed for prolonged periods of time. There are seeral reasons why btis may be, including the chemical composition of cow's milk in comparison to a mother's milk.
